ABC PILATES TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM (TTP) -2009* Module I - January 24th-25th 2009 from 12-5pm Fee-$3500 includes manual
The ABC Pilates Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive lecture, work-study, apprenticeship, and teaching program intended to provide trainees with the knowledge and experience needed to teach Pilates at any level.
PREREQUISITES: Applicants should be in good health and preferably have a background in dance and/or other bodywork disciplines such as yoga, weight training, or fitness training. A prior understanding of and experience in the Pilates-based Mat and Universal Reformer exercises at an intermediate level is also strongly recommended. A basic understanding of anatomy is helpful. A minimum requirement of 20 hours of mat and 20 hours of reformer classes must be taken in conjunction with teacher training program at ABC studios.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFICATION*
· Modules I through VII to be attended sequentially
· 50 hours of observation in ABC studios with director or approved teachers
· 75 hours of apprenticeship teaching at ABC studios will be scheduled with director or approved teachers
· Mat practical given during module IV (ability to teach mat classes in supervised capacity)
· Makeup exam given during module VIII (all work must be completed)
· A Final Exam - written and practical exam to be passed (80%) for graduation.
· Observation and apprenticeship hours completed and logged.
WHAT TRAINEES CAN EXPECT FROM ABC PILATES TTP Trainees will learn fundamental through advanced Pilates based exercises from a pedagogical approach, emphasizing the structure of classes and teaching multi-level groups. Small group interaction provides intimate attention and detail to the work and teaching skills. Trainees will graduate with the knowledge needed to teach multi-level Pilates classes. Time frames for completion of programs vary per individual.
· Full comprehension of beginning to advanced level of mat work, Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Tower,and small apparatus.
· Basic knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology
· Verbal and hands on cueing/methodology
· After graduation trainees will be ready to teach mat class, private, semi-private, group and pre/post classes to all levels
· Manual for students includes handouts, exercises, and calendars (observation and apprenticeship log).
· Other reading material will be suggested during TTP.

The Pre Natal Pilates Specialist Program Fee $475.00.00 plus $60.00 manual Course length - 8 hours November 15th and 16th, 2008 from 12-5pm
This unique and comprehensive exercise program addresses the needs of the pregnant woman from the first trimester through labor. Using the Pilates method of exercise, our program will gently and safely prepare the body for the rigors of labor while re-aligning the body for successful birthing.
We’ll remove the mysteries and myths surrounding pregnancy and exercise by providing techniques that benefit both mother and baby. In addition, the program includes extensive education regarding anatomy and the birthing process itself. You’ll gain a complete understanding of what happens to the body during pregnancy and ways to accommodate the changes that occur.
Stability balls are an integral component of the program. We ensure that women are well acquainted with them as a labor tool so that they may be used comfortably and effectively during the birthing process.
Our holistic program works with women using safe techniques so that their bodies are prepared for a successful birthing experience.

The goal of this program is to assist the post partum woman as she heals from the trauma of birth. We gently rebuild the body’s strength from the inside out, beginning just hours after delivery. The mother will be guided through a series of Pilates-based exercises designed to close the abdominals, realign the spine and rehabilitate the pelvic floor.
Problems that may occur during this time - diastasis recti, C-sections and separation of the pubic bone are also addressed and techniques are provided on how to heal each of them.
In addition, we’ll discuss the many issues facing postpartum women as they reenter the world as a new mother and how this affects their exercise routine.
